Fashion Week: BBJ Backstage at Twinkle by Wenlan

The hilarious Christian McCullough for MAC Cosmetics told me that the inspiration for Twinkle is summer fruity colors. Eyes were swept with a wash of Vex shadow on the lid. No liner was used, but mascara was applied to top lashes. A coral lip with a melon gloss (MAC Lipglass in Light Lychee). No blush was used and a neutral eyebrow finished off the look.

Close-up of the makeup!

Christian dabs some gloss onto a model’s lips with his fingertip for a softer effect.

I adored the hair at this show, dolls. John Ruidant for REDKEN created a sort of beehivey Holly Golightly French twist. The inspiration: Parisian School Girl. He used Fabricate before blow-drying and finished the look off with Workhorse hairspray. John teased hair at the crown by backcombing with a skinny brush. John crafted the twist by splitting the head front-to-back and back-combed all of the back half before twisting up the the hair. To make sure the ‘do was secure, he used bobby pins.

Nails were inspired by “the tough girl who’s girly.” The color is CND’s Nail Noir, a deep, almost black shade.

Toes were painted with a neutral, grayed-off taupe. The blend was custom-created for Twinkle. Per Angie Wingle from CND, nine blends were created before this one was chosen. I adore it!
