Emmys 2013 Makeup & Hairstyle: Emilia Clarke

One of the most beautiful red carpet looks of the evening was Emilia Clarke‘s ethereally simple makeup and hair effect for the Emmys. Here, the beauty breakdown courtesy of her makeup artist Dawn Broussard and hairstylist Jenny Cho.

Says Dawn Broussard, “With the soft, ethereal tones of Emilia’s dress, I chose a color palette that reminded me of a romantic, mysterious gypsy and kept the skin fresh and glowing with a neutral lip.”

HAIRJenny Cho for Suave did the hair honors for Emilia. “Emilia’s delicate Donna Karan atelier dress called for something simple, yet striking. We landed on a simple low bun to add a modern feel to the entire look,” states Cho.

1. Part damp hair in the center with a tail comb. Apply a drop of Suave Professionals Moroccan Infusion Styling Oil from mid-shaft to ends and blow dry.
2. Mist Suave Professionals Touchable Finish Extra Hold Hairspray while gathering hair into a tight low ponytail with a small Mason Pierson brush.
3. Spray the loose pony with the extra hold hairspray, wrap the hair around the pony and anchor with bobby pins.
4. Tame any fly aways with Suave Professionals Sleek Anti-Frizz Cream and one last final mist of extra hold hairspray for a smooth, clean look.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara Review

This week, Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci takes on Tarte‘s Lights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara. How does she fare? Read on…

Lights, Camera, Cute Packaging! This mazzie stands out, wrapped in gold faux-snakeskin.

The brush is fat with rubber spikes and holds a lot of product. One coat gives lots of volume at the root but doesn’t offer a lot in the length department. The uber-wet formula clumps at the roots which is nice, but you have to be quick with your second coat. On one of my eyes I waited too long, the formula dried quick and it was nearly impossible to get another coat on without major clumps. I had to use a lash comb to get my lashes looking right. With the eye I DIDN’T wait to long to apply coat two, I got even more volume but the product just wouldn’t pull through the tips for va-va-voom length.

tarte Does The Harlem Shake

For the uninitiated, the =&0=& is officially A Thing.

Legions have been doing the dance, including Kyle MacLachlan’s epic “Twin Peaks” rendition. Basically, it requires a single person rocking a ridiculous mask in an office or other such setting (the original took place in an apartment) and everyone else looking on as if nothing’s happening. Then, in the next scene, EVERYONE’s donning Mardi-Gras level costumes and rocking out. Don’t ask, just get involved.

I had a 30-minute conversation on the phone about it with my BFF Lee last night (in which we also discussed the cultural relevance of a famous philosopher you should know about named Macklemore.) And now, natural makeup brand extraordinaire tarte gets in on the Harlem Shake craze, with this video below. Check it.

Julianne Hough’s Makeup: 2012 Emmys

Celebrity makeup artist =&0=& for =&1=& created =&2=&‘s beautiful makeup look for the 2012 Emmys. Inspiration? Says Molly, “I wanted her makeup to look as if she were a black and white photograph come to life.”  Here, the makeup situation, courtesy of Molly Stern.

Face
Molly prepped Julianne’s skin with tarte’s pure maracuja oil to give the skin a deep infusion of moisture and glow.

Cheeks
Molly applied tarte’s cheek stain in loving in the hollows of her cheek and then topped off the apples with tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in exposed.

Eyes
To keep her eyes simple and fresh, Molly softened her lids with Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in slate to give a subtle yet dazzling glow.

Lips
To finish the look, Molly filled her lips in with tarte’s LipSurgence matte lip tint in exposed and then pressed tarte’s glamazon pure performance 12-hour lipstick in pure over top. “I wanted to make sure the color had a matte finish to keep with the overall softness of the look.”
