Official Mascara Correspondent: Topshop Mascara

Official Mascara Correspondent Ashleigh Ciucci test-drives Topshop Mascara this week in a hot shade. What does she think? Find out.

I die for Topshop but I’ve never tried their mascara. I got a hold of one of their colored options, Nettle ($16). Nettle looks like a pearly soft forest green in the tube. With one coat, I first noticed that the formula is almost mousse-like. Because of this, it takes a bit of work to get the product to really stick to the lashes. Because the brush is nothing special (simple small straight brush) I found that I needed to dip in the tube three times to get much effect. After coat one (three?!) I was left with tapered and evenly pigmented lashes. There wasn’t a whole lot of volume or length, but a nice natural oomph to my lashes.

While the pigment was too dry after the first coat dried, I was really impressed with the color pay-off. With colored mascaras, I can usually take or leave ’em, but my lashes were truly foresty green. Because my eyes are green, they really glistened and almost looked golden. While this mascara doesn’t follow the traditional “coat 1, coat 2, touch-up” formula, the effect is nice.

This is the best colored mascara I’ve used in a while. It washed off easily with soap and water so I’d totally recommend this one!–Ashleigh Ciucci
