Skoop Helps You Give The Ultimate Valentine’s Day Gift

The Space at The Parlor

Whether it’s a gift from your significant other or a simply a gift from you to you, a spa pedicure is the perfect indulgence. I don’t know about you, but I don’t indulge in many pedicures in the winter months—and if I do, it’s a deeply standard one. No bells and whistles because that’s the upgrade from doing it myself. So a soothing spa pedicure in a beautiful space when barely anyone is even seeing my tootsies is, quite frankly a gift.

This week, beauty service curation and booking app Skoop offered me a free service to try out to write about. I went back and forth about opting for a non-toxic gel mani (something I also love) but in the spirit of V Day and self care, I ended up choosing a spa pedicure with the wonderful Frances Liang at The Parlor at 160 Madison Avenue. I’m so glad I did!

First of all, the story alone is an exercise in why an app like Skoop is necessary. I live mere blocks from The Parlor and I’m a beauty writer—and I’d had no idea this beautopia existed. The basement level is gorgeously decorated with stunning art from different artists in residence and features a veritable neighborhood of hair salon, body care, makeup, skincare and nail suites. There’s even a place to purchase snacks and drinks with a self-checkout option. It’s divine!

Frances’ suite is tucked away in the back and was so serene. She offered me water or tea, then had me pick out a shade from her extensive collection. Not only is she a delight to chat with in her zen space, she also does a tremendous job. I felt relaxed and revived. My feet look flawless and revitalized. My toes are polished to gleaming perfection and ready for a last-minute trip my boyfriend and I decided to take later this week. Frances also offers non-toxic gel nail art manicures, so I’ll definitely be back for one of those. I’ll make my appointment quickly and easily through Skoop!

It’ll make the ideal St. Patrick’s Day gift from me to me.
