So remember the last time I was sick, I had a renaissance-themed flu?

This time, my cold could only be soothed with the help of vampires. Vamps, in case you haven’t noticed, are so hot right now: HBO’s True Blood is absolutely RIVETING and I have several friends who can’t put DOWN the Twilight series. It’s next on my reading list.

So anywho, I caught about five eps of True Blood in one weekend and noticed that I have been rocking a pallor on the level of Eric Northman’s. The thing is, Eric can’t go outside during the day as he is a VAMPIRE, and I totes can, so what’s my excuse?

To help with my paper-white complexion, I tried *Magic by Prescriptives Illuminating Liquid Potion ($30). A potion it is: a small spritz of this stuff into your regularly-scheduled foundation or tinted moisturizer will warm up your skin tone fast while infusing it with subtle luminosity. Deep translucent is a shade that claims to be for darker skins, but in moderation, it’s perf for pale gals, too. Light-diffusing particles hide flaws to perfect skin tone.

P.S. If you’re not watching True Blood, I don’t know what you’re DOING. My fave part of watching the show is that I finally get to employ all of my useless knowledge of vampires gleaned from reading too much Anne Rice and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the movie, not the TV show) on a loop as an impressionable teen. I can barely remember how to do long division, but I KNOW that no vampire’s coming into a mortal’s place of residence without being invited in first. Where do we KEEP this info? It’s astounding, really.

Hi Lydia! Welcome. I have NOT read The Historian, but it sounds so up my alley. I’m picking up Twilight this weekend!

And Jamie, I was OBV thinking of that David Arquette part of Buffy. You know me well!

I read about your blog on Sephora’s Beauty and the Blog – I was so happy to see that you are a fellow Gemini Monkey, and a beauty addict! And you like vampires! I have read the Twilight series – I enjoyed it. Twilight, the first book, is definitely the best one of the bunch. I am about to start The Historian. Have you read? It’s about Vlad the Impaler 🙂

I can testify. True Blood is good stuff. Take some Six Feet Under, a little Dexter, a drop of Buffy, and bit of skinemax (you know what I’m talkin bout) and you get a dark, sexy show that made me want to do bad things with the undead and actually led me to ask Amber, “Do you think maybe they’re real?” … Unfortunately, they’re not.

OMG. That scene in Buffy where David Arquette is floating outside Luke Perry’s window … so creepy to me as a 12-year-old. You and I are totes on the same wavelength. 🙂
