Scandalously stunning, this amped-up ponytail and liquid-lined eye on Kerry Washington was one of the best looks of the night.
Carola Conzalez did the makeup honors for the “Scandal” star. “I wanted the makeup to be edgy, modern, and graphic. That’s why I decided on the bold shape of the liner around the eyes. I wanted to keep it simple, but strong.” Here, the beauty breakdown.
Face: Carola always uses Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to boost hydration and nourish Kerry’s skin
“My first step is to highlight and conceal imperfections where needed. I’m really excited to use Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation, in Cocoa. It perfectly matches Kerry’s skin tone making it look flawlessly radiant. I applied it all over her face to even it out and blended with a round brush for a smoother application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of her cheeks to add a bit of color to the face. I used Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Bronzed.”
Eyes: A liquid eyeliner was used to line the top and bottom lash lines, connecting them at the end and inner corner of the eyes
“To finish the eyeliner, I layered it with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black and lined and filled the inside of lash line. To make lashes stand out and add more volume, I applied a few coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black.”
Lips: The look was completed with a nude lip color
“I finalized Kerry’s look with Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Almond Nude, one of her favorite new shades.”
Takisha Sturdivant-Drew created Kerry Washington’s Oscars ‘do, a youthful ponytail. “I wanted to keep her [look] young, yet edgy at the same time and what better way than putting her hair into a ponytail with some extra drama at the roots.”
“ To get Kerry’s healthy, shiny looking hair I shampooed it with Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo which instantly removes heavy, dulling residue off the hair. I conditioned her hair with Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Mask, an intensive moisture treatment which restores shine and leaves the hair soft and lustrous. After thoroughly rinsing out the conditioner, I toweled dried her hair. For styling, I blow dried Kerry’s hair and gave her some lift at the roots with a paddle brush. Then I parted her hair down the middle into two sections and took a flat iron and smoothed out her hair. To create her bold, youthful ponytail I curled medium strands of the hair starting at the root loosely around the curling iron for 7 seconds. I did this clock and counter clock wise with the iron throughout her hair to pump up the volume. Then I teased the roots a little, and clipped in hair extensions in the center only for some natural added texture and length. I gathered her hair all together in mid center, pushed some hair forward in the crown for some drama and secured all of the hair with a leather band.”
