The Trick To Selena Gomez’ Glowing Makeup At The AMAs

Makeup Artist Hung Vanngo did the makeup honors for Selena Gomez at the 2016 American Music Awards  last night. “Today Selena looked so happy and vibrant; I really wanted to keep the makeup more minimal and let that shine through,” he said. “We decided to do something timeless and soft.” Here, the beauty breakdown, in his words.

SKIN: I started by prepping the skin with CHANEL Hydra Beauty Flash Instantly Hydrating Perfecting Balm, CHANEL La Solution 10 de Chanel Sensitive Skin Cream, and CHANEL Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care.

FACE: I then followed with Vitalumière Aqua Foundation. She has beautiful skin, so I didn’t need much. Next, I used CHANEL Éclat Lumière Highlighter Face Pen and a tiny bit of CHANEL Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer to enhance her natural radiance and correct only where needed.

CHEEKS: I added a little extra warmth to her skin with CHANEL Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base and a subtle pop of cheek color with CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour Stick in Blush N°22 before setting with a light dusting of CHANEL Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Colour SPF 15.

EYES: For the eyes, I kept it simple and classic using soft taupe colors. I started by sketching CHANEL Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Pomme de Pin along the top and bottom lash line and blended the same pencil into the crease for soft definition. I then layered on a few shades from the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Tissé Gabrielle, and added plenty of CHANEL Le Volume de Chanel Mascara in Noir on top and bottom lashes.

BROWS: I lightly defined her brows with just a touch of powder from CHANEL Brow Powder Duo in 50 Brun and brushed them into place.

LIPS: After CHANEL Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care had soaked in and thoroughly conditioned her lips, I blotted the excess and lightly traced her natural shape with CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Beige Innocent. I finished the look with a layer of CHANEL Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Colour in Pensive.
