In this week’s installment of Official Mascara Correspondent’s column, she gives Maybelline Real Impact! By  Great Lash a go. How does she fare? Read on to find out. In Ashleigh’s words:

We all know it: Great Lash Mascara is an industry staple.  Consumers and professionals alike swoon over this mascara and consider it a must-have for any makeup kit.  Obviously I was intrigued at the idea of a spin on this classic.  The brush is larger than the original, longer but still stiff-bristled.  The whipped formula is rich and touts shea butter and natural waxes to build volume. 

With one coat, I admit I miss whatever artificial ingredients are in the original! The build-up is very soft and gives me just a soft wisp of volume.  The second coat goes on a little dry but luckily doesn’t clump.  There is moderate volume at the roots and soft tapered tips.  I consider a third coat but live with two coats for the sake of fair reviewing. 

By my afternoon touch-up the formula had softened a bit and I was finally able to get some actual LASH (maybe that third coat was necessary?) The formula was a little hard to remove and I woke up with raccoon eyes.  I would stick to the original with this one…
