Five Rules For Life: Lynette Lovelace

Lynette Lovelace is truly a lovely person and that’s not just because you can actually rearrange the letters in her name to spell the word. I’ve met the Chicago native AND I’m a huge fan of her Lifetherapy range of body products (check my review of her Vacation scented body lotion here) and her overall energy, to sound a little new agey on this Friday. She’s all for choosing your mood and is mad inspiring, so I hit her up to share her Five Rules For Life. Here they are, in her words.
1. Positivity
POSITIVITY. I know…yuck, we’ve heard it all before. …but it’s true. I mean it’s really true. And guess what,  it’s contagious, as is its opposition. I try to find something positive in every situation. It’s amazing how much you can learn from  “hardship” and “challenging times” if you are willing to see and accept the whole picture.

2. Don’t force what’s “not” happening.
This goes for both personal and professional. Usually there’s a darn good reason  for your feelings.  If you trust your gut and sit still for a minute, everything starts to makes sense. Walk away. We often get in our own way, and running into yourself is a lot more conflicting than running into someone else.

3. Don’ t stand with your feet so “stiff” that you can’t catch yourself if someone pushes you a little.
FACT. People will push us in life. It’s not a one way world.  More often than not we have to give and take a little in our beliefs. If you’re too “stiff”,  you will just fall flat. Keep some “bend” in the knee so the fall is a lot easier to absorb.

4. Always moisturize.
Yes!  It’s a daily rule of mine. Some times it’s the little things  that make you feel  a lot better.  I have been applying lotion to my skin since I was old enough to open the bottle.  My skin drinks it up and it makes a huge difference in your skin’s appearance.  Give yourself a 30 day challenge – I haven’t met a person yet that doesn’t see a dramatic difference in their skin.

5. Not everyone will like you.

Accept it. Ask yourself this question and ask it often: “Does this person “tolerate” me or “cherish” me”?  Make no time those who do not want the absolute best for you. None.

Thanks, Lynette! Stay tuned for more Five Rules.

“Five Rules,” is a series on Rouge18 in which I ask others to share their five rules for life about anything and everything. You can learn a lot about a person by reading which five things govern their actions, no?

Great tips! You are what you think, so think positive, think forward. And not everyone will like you. You can never please everybody, just be yourself and do what you think best.
For my skin, I agree to always moisturize. As I grow older, this is a must!

I agree with you, Lynette! The most important thing is to love yourself and not let anyone push you around. It’s true that you can’t please everybody and it’s better to avoid persons who can really be an emotional vampire. Let us always strive to be happy! 😀
