Mary Phillips for L’Oréal Paris created Jennifer Lopez’ red dragon-inspired look for the Met Ball last night.

“The makeup really ties in the red dragon theme, but in a very subtle way. She has that classic JLO skin, we kept the glow, the tone- and all of those elements that people love, but I would definitely call this glow a ‘special occasion’ glow. You’re going to see a lot of reds, oranges, peaches, but in a very diffused blown out way. We play a lot with merging her eye color with her cheek color, which is Eastern Asian-inspired, and pays a bit of a homage to the disco 70’s era. Her lips are a golden coral and her eyes have a very thin black liquid liner line on the upper lash only. You might notice an overall golden finish to her skin, which is because I dusted that everywhere as a finishing touch to play up the crystals in her breathtaking red Versace gown.” Here, the beauty breakdown.

STEP 1: To start, Mary applied L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Miracle Blur ($24.99), which is great for filling in the depths of fine lines and allowed foundation to glide on with ease.

STEP 2: Mary used L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Spray & Set Makeup Extender Setting Spray ($16.99) before, during and after makeup. She explained that it gives skin the perfect finish making it her skin-must.

STEP 3: Next, she applied L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Foundation in Classic Tan($12.99) all over the face.

STEP 4: To brighten and plump in all the right ways, Mary added two-in-one L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute Concealer ($12.95).

STEP 5: To create the signature bronzed glow and for a bit of sheen, Mary applied Armani Sun Fabric Sheer Bronzer.

STEP 6:  Mixing Lancôme Limited Edition Blush Subtil Crème in Coral Alize, Brise Rosee, and Rouge Mistral and L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Lipcolour in Classic Wine($8.95) created a super slick balmy blush, which Mary patted all along the temples, tops of the cheek bone and into the eye lids. She also dabbed the mixture at the very center of her mouth and blended outwards, which she described as almost a faint “popsicle mouth” look.

STEP 7: For the eyes, Mary applied L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Intenza Mascara in Black ($8.99), which fanned lashes out and added thickness primarily to their tail ends.

STEP 8: For bold color and precise, long-lasting application in one stroke, Mary appliedL’Oréal Paris The Super Slim Liner by Infallible ($8.95).

STEP 9: Mary then applied L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Brow Plumper in Transparent ($8.99), which she credits as having the perfect hold.

STEP 10: To complete the look, she added a shiny punch of a subtle color using L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Le Gloss in Peach Fuzz ($7.95) — the luster and sparkle tied the look together to completion.
