Spiffy SPF: MD Solarsciences + A Giveaway

I’ve said it before but you and I both know it bears repeating: Apply sunscreen EVERY day. Not just at the beach. Not just once a day. Not even JUST on your face, if you really want to get into it. All of your exposed skin, including arms and hands need to be protected if you want to look younger than Dakota Fanning for decades to come.

When it comes to SPF, I don’t mess around, so I was excited to learn about a new line of physical sunscreens called MD SolarSciences, created by Dr. Robert J. Friedman. His expertise is in cancers of the skin, notably in clinically diagnosing and managing malignant melanoma and related lesions. Because if you’re going to commit to protecting the largest organ you have from damaging rays that can lead to skin cancer, don’t you want a formula designed by someone whose sole mission in life is to prevent the disease? (I do.)

The line of products includes a full suite of broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection in compliance with the FDA’s current regulations but also as well as the higher European UVA performance criteria. Among my favorites of the line are:

Mineral Screen Tinted Gel 30+ ($24) is a water-resistant tinted moisturizer/SPF that boasts an incredibly smooth, blendable texture and flatters a wide variety of skin tones. Sensitive skin will be comforted by the formula—it’s recommended for those with rosacea and acne.

Quick Dry Body Spray SPF 40 ($20) is easy to use for men and children who want to simply spray their way to sun protection. It dries fast and is un-oily, so it doesn’t do that thing SPF sprays tend to when you’re reading a magazine on the beach and all the print comes off on your leg.

Ultra Sport Stick SPF 40 ($16) looks like a deodorant/lip balm hybrid, but it’s actually a little stick of sun protection you can throw in your purse for touch-ups (which you should be doing!) during the day. It’s great for the neck and chest as well.

Want to enter my Twitter giveaway for a chance to win some MD Solarsciences products? Three winners will each get an ($16) Ultra Sport Stick SPF 40 and ($24) Mineral Screen Tinted Gel 30+. (Open to US residents only.)

To enter, follow me and @MDSolarsciences (Dr. Friedman WAS tempted to go by @DrGlamBob as a shout-out to my Twitter handle, but decided on something a bit more profesh, in the end) on Twitter (I’m @glambr) and say “Follow @Glambr & @MDSolarsciences & RT to enter to win SPF! #giveaway #freebie”  Deadline is 11:59pm on Friday, June 10.

Good luck!

I’ve never tweeted and don’t really know how, but this sunscreen looks WONDERFUL! (coming from someone with rosacea & someone who has had skin cancer on my face!)
So I went to their website and ordered 3 of them. Can’t wait to try it out. Thanks so much for the heads up!

Whoa! Excellent choice for a giveaway. I use MDSolarSciences Mineral Sunscreen Gel on my arms, legs and face every day, all day. I’m amazed by the sweat and water-resistence. Today it was 102 degrees outside and I didn’t break a sweat. Plus, this stuff doesn’t have a scent…so it won’t clash with your perfume. Can we say…amazing?!
