Emmys 2014 Makeup: Sarah Paulson

66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards - Arrivals

While her dress veers a little Tim Burton for my face, “American Horror Story” star and Emmy nominee Sarah Paulson’s FACE is WINNING. She chose to go with a “glowing, fresh, youthful look,” says makeup artist Melanie Inglessis. Here, the beauty breakdown.

“We started with Tom Ford’s Traceless Foundation Stick,” says Inglessis, “which provides amazing coverage but still lets the skin breathe. I followed it up with Chateau Cheeks Cream Blush from Pur Minerals in Coy, a pinky-coral color, on the apples of her cheeks.”

Next, Inglessis chose to define Sarah’s eye with two pencils, rather than shadow. Starting with a black kohl liner from Sisley, she drew right on the lash line, then smudged it for a slightly sultry look. She overlaid a gray shade from Chantecaille, in Storm, also smudging, and then cleaning up the entire look with a shadow brush. She finished the eye look with a layer of Giorgio Armani’s “Eyes to Kill” mascara.

“Finally, I used the new Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon in Niagara Overlook ($9, www.burtsbees.com), which gave her the perfect amount of color in just the right shade. I even threw it in her bag on the way out so that she could reapply as needed throughout the night!”
