Is there a more arduous task than figuring out your best nude (or any) nail polish shade when you’re relegated to the rules and regulations of the drugstore? I.e., that you cannot open it and test it out on your own hands, the way you can at a salon? For the longest, you’d just have to blindly choose and then hope you made the right decision come at-home manicure time. But Sally Hansen’s changed all that with its new #ManiMatch app. Get ready to experience a Nude Awakening!
First, you scan your hand and don’t worry if you have polish on — it still works. When you open the app, you’ll see the outline of a hand. Adjust your own hand so it fits in the outline. The camera scans your hand and detect your nail position. The app will then detect your skin tone and will recommend color options at the bottom of the screen. Try ’em on: It simulates the color, texture, and shine to make it look like a real polish.
Try the app out for yourself — it’s free! Plus, if you’re in New York City this weekend, Sally Hansen is hosting a pop-up shop at 120 Wooster Street (3pm to 7pm on Friday, 11am to 7pm on Saturday and Sunday). If you test out the app and post about the event on Twitter or Facebook you’ll win complimentary polish samples and manicures at the event.
