Hair: DVF Spring Summer 2014 Show

The mermaid theme is alive and well for spring/summer 2014, my landlubber friends.

Backstage at DVF, Orlando Pita for BioSilk created an undulating hairstyle to reflect the oasis and serenity theme of DVF’s Spring 2014 collection.  He left the hair down with a middle part and created an S wave pattern using the over under technique, alternating on top and under side of hair, pressing small sections under the small clamp on the CHI Arc. Said Pita, “We’re using the shape of the tool to create natural ridges with an s-curl pattern because that is how the hair waves naturally.”

Depending on the hair type, different products were used for each girl. BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Medium Hold Styling Foam and Root Lift was used on models with fine, limp hair and dried with the CHI TOUCH Blow Dryer. Pita used the BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder on the roots and applied BioSilk Silk Therapy on every model for weightless shine and added reflection.
Here, the step-by-step.
Prep
Spray BioSilk Volumizing Hairspray all over to add a little texture to hair.
For added lift and volume, apply the BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Texturizing Powder to the roots.
**If starting with wet hair apply BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Root Lift and BioSilk Volumizing Therapy Styling Foam before blow drying.

Style
Create a clean and precise middle part.
Select a small section of hair and start about mid length (or wherever your hair naturally waves) by pressing hair under the small clamp of the CHI ARC.
Use the over under technique, alternating on the top and underside of hair, down the length of the hair to create an “S” wave pattern.

Finish

Apply BioSilk Silk Therapy from mid-length to ends for a silky, smooth finish.

What do you think of this look? Are you still feeling waves? I like that this iteration is a twist on the standard-issue Kardashian variety.
