Go Behind the Scenes of SJP’s Vogue Photo Shoot

Oh, girls. I just bought not one, but TWO tickets (for myself) to the Sex and the City movie on two separate nights on Fandango. And I’m most likely going to see it a third time with my friends Lauren, Jill and Dana (my own little SATC-like quartet) because the three of them are away in Poland and Prague until June 2nd. Thanks to a suggestion by Julia, I’m seeing it with my roommate Carrie on Thursday at midnight (technically Friday) and then again on Friday night with my friends Erin, Tiffany and Stephanie. I mean, that’s how I roll. It’s been getting mediocre reviews, but you know what? To quote Carrie (my roomie), “I’m gonna like it anyway.”

Lunch with Molly Stern & New Cover Girl Products

Yesterday, I (along with some other beauty bloggers) had the opportunity to sit and have lunch with celebrity makeup artist Molly Stern, who’s now partnered with Cover Girl. Her celebrity clients have included Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Connelly, Jacinda Barrett, Amy Adams, and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Quite the roster, n’est-ce pas? The vibrant Molly (who looks more like a college student than like her real age of 36) talked about her background and gave us the deets on the new Cover Girl products. Molly is from Los Angeles and got her first beauty job at age 16 at Shu Uemura at her local mall. Molly’s theory is less is more, so rare for makeup artists. She can flush a cheek like no other. As she was responsible for Reese Witherspoon’s Oscar 2007 moment (the purple dress… remember?) I’ve been keeping tabs on Molly’s work on Hollywood’s finest at awards shows.

Brows, Bloggers, and Bad Bathroom Timing

One of the highlights of the weekend? Getting my brows done by my friend Elke von Freudenberg, brow gal extraordinaire this weekend in L.A. She’s available for appointments in both NYC and L.A. Elke cleaned up my admittedly neglected brows and fancied them up with some of her shimmery (specially for night, she told me) brow powder. Loves it. My brows look seriously phenom. Marina told me multiple times. And Marina knows her stuff. Elke says that scrubbing over eyebrows with a facial scrub is the best way to prepare them for plucking. It also sloughs off any dead skin making them look more abundant and smooth. I’ve been following her advice sloughing the area with my fave scrub, Origins Never a Dull Moment.

Hilary Duff’s Blonder ‘Do

I just saw this on the Interwebs and HAD to share. I think she’s never looked better. I recommend wrapping hair outside of the clamp of a 1.5″ T3 Twirl and spraying with a flexible hairspray that doesn’t skimp on hold. My faves are Bumble and bumble Spray de Mode and Elnett.

Brown Eyeliner Quest: Redpoint StayPut Eyeliner

There are a few things I’m ALWAYS game to try and, as you know, brown eyeliner is one of them. I love a wacky jewel tone from time to time, but my everyday makeup routine is kind of permanent. Brown liner, some tinted moisturizer or foundation depending on my skin situ, creme blush or bronzer (sometimes both), mascara and some balm and/or gloss is my typical roster of cosmetics I use on a daily.

But, I find that as a light-eyed blonde with a fair complexion, when I wear black eyeliner (except at night when I’m going out), it’s a bit extreme. A bit tarty. A bit too Sandy from Grease when she emerges in full black spandex regalia and sings Better Shape Up:
