I Put Rodan + Fields’ REDEFINE Regimen To The Test

In terms of skincare results, there was no better time for me to put Rodan + Fields REDEFINE Regimen to the test. I was in the midst of working 50+ hour weeks, coordinating and packing for a last-minute move and trying to find a new tenant for my old apartment (which I’m still doing, BTW). In other words? Had I not found this epic regimen, I’d be looking haggard—and definitely ancient right now. But, I was so impressed with my month-long trial of the new + improved REDEFINE Regimen. I found it helped substantially with the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and loss of firmness. Plus, it’s all about gentle hydration, hydration, hydration.

Choose Your Own Skincare Adventure

What’s great about REDEFINE is that you’re able to choose your own skincare adventure. Want a cream as opposed to a lotion? You got it. Want a lighter textured night cream? Done. The customization and personalization aspect of the Regimen is fantastic. It allows you to select products based on your own unique texture preference for Step 1, Step 3am and Step 3pm. Three simple steps that take mere minutes and you’ve got an easy morning and evening routine. You’ve also got options, people. Who doesn’t love that?

So, here’s my regimen:

Step 1: REDEFINE Daily Foaming Cleanser

You can also choose a clay-based cleanser, but I prefer a creamy foaming one, like this formula. It leaves my skin feeling soft but removes dirt, oil and makeup in a flash—no separate makeup remover needed. It also contains alpha hydroxy acids to gently exfoliate my skin without stripping it. It rinses clean and smells ever-so-faintly of lemons. Love.

Step 2: REDEFINE Pore Refining Toner

This skin softening toner minimizes the appearance of pores and exfoliates to promote natural cell turnover. It preps my skin for the moisturizer that follows to help it really sink into my skin and do its job. Niacinamide helps visibly even out my skin tone and give it that extra glow. I love to use a toner to wet my skin before applying lotions or creams. Think of your skin as a sponge: applying a lotion to a damp sponge means the lotion will sink in. On a dry sponge, it would sit on top of the surface.

Step 3a (AM): REDEFINE Triple Defense Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 30

It’s funny: I like a thick cream at night but when it comes to day moisture, I like lightweight, especially when there’s SPF involved. This beautiful formula nourishes my skin despite its beautifully weightless texture and improves my skin’s appearance while keeping it protected from harmful UV rays. There’s a cream iteration you can use for day if that’s your thing, too.

Step 3b (PM): REDEFINE Overnight Restorative Cream

This is where I want that richness. This deeply moisturizing night cream boasts bakuchiol, a plant-derived alternative to retinol and glycolic acid to keep my skin looking young and vibrant while niacinamide visibly evens my skin tone and imparts a glow. If you’re into a lotion for evening, there’s a lightweight version of the cream as well.

I dedicated myself to the regimen and used nothing else for an entire month, morning and night, to really see results. After just a few days, I saw a difference in terms of my skin’s hydration and even skin tone and was super impressed. As for the Overnight Restorative Cream, because it has a retinol alternative, I eased into the application doing every other night at first — but I quickly found that there was no irritation and I woke up to fantastic looking skin so I upped it to every night — not something I can typically do with a garden-variety retinol. This was my first bakuchiol-infused product and I’ve been really impressed with it thus far.

Skincare does take a few weeks of regular use for you to really see the benefits, and I’m happy to say that my skin continued to improve as the weeks went on. As a beauty writer, I try a lot of skincare at a range of price points and I’d put this regimen at the top of my list—along with items that cost upward of twice as much.

I’d give it the stamp of approval as something I’d buy with my American dollars, a special designation I only use on a few products. As a beauty writer, buying products isn’t typically something I have to do. But I’d spend the money on this when I burn through these bottles. Even when I was moving and kept just a few lone items in my bathroom the night before I moved, it was Regimen, a body wash and a few wash cloths. The rest got boxed up and was ready to go to my new place.

One Regimen lasts 60 days, so it’s a good value for the money. I give it 5 stars. Its customizability and generous amounts make it a Rouge18 winner. Have you tried the REDEFINE Regimen? Talk to me about it on Instagram! I’m @rouge_18
