Dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss trained under the famed Dr. Patricia Wexler and combines her medical knowledge, vast experience with lasers and artistic skills to treat a multitude of skin situations. Employing cutting edge technologies, Dr. Idriss specializes in facial aesthetics and rejuvenation, liposuction and body reshaping with minimal downtime. Here, I caught up with her about her Five Rules For Life. Here they are, in her words.
1. Never take yourself too seriously
Learn to laugh at yourself, have fun, and do it often. This will keep you young at heart inside and out.
2. Live YOUR life to the beat of your OWN drum
In the world of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter… it’s very easy to lose sight of what matters most to you. Don’t fall into the vicious cycle of comparing your life to the most recent post and feeling like you are not living up to expectations. Reality check. No one is keeping count! Do you, appreciate your good fortunes and the rest will follow.
3. Your ego is not your amigo
It doesn’t serve you well and is certainly not a good look. By checking your ego at the door and exuding genuine humility, you make those around you root for you. That’s the only way to succeed.
4. Life is long and the world is small
When faced with failure or a difficult decision, never burn bridges. And, more importantly, never give up. When one door closes, you never know when an opportunity will come knocking, so always have faith and be open to chance.
5. Perception and attitude become your reality
Wake up every day believing you will be a winner, and you are more likely to win. 90% of how you do in life is how you act in life.
Thanks, Dr. Idriss! Stay tuned for more Five Rules installments. “Five Rules,” is a series on Rouge18 in which I ask others to share their five rules for life about anything and everything. You can learn a lot about a person by reading which five things govern their actions, no?
