Five Rules For Life: Jeannine Morris Of Beauty Sweet Spot

Introducing a new series called “Five Rules,” in which I ask others to share their five rules for life.

If it weren’t for frequent catch-up lunches at Penelope with fellow freelancer Jeannine Morris of Beauty Sweet Spot, I’d easily go 24 hours with zero verbal human contact. She discusses her must-have beauty items on air but here, she shares her Five Rules For Life. Check ’em out, in Jeannine’s words.

1. Live in the moment.
I believe there’s no time like the present. The past shaped us and the future is full of opportunity, but as we get caught up in what’s next we often miss out on the present. Once in a while, stop and look around to realize how awesome life is right now.

2. Be optimistic.
I live by The Secret. If you haven’t read it yet, place it at the top of your reading list. It’s all about the law of attraction. Positive energy attracts positive energy. It’s that simple and living this way will affect every aspect of your life: career, love, family and friends.

3. DIY… literally.
As Diane Von Furstenberg says, “Have an idea and make it happen.” Set your mind to a goal and make it happen for yourself. Don’t expect doors to open for you. At the end of the day, in the business world, nobody cares about you, but you. If you want something, you have to work for it… hard.

4. Be patient and act classy.
When I was in high school I went to a psychic and she gave me this advice. It was by far the best advice I’ve ever gotten. Crazy right? Truth is, it applies to everything in life. Think about it.

5. Take risks.
Whether it’s allowing yourself to fall in love, sporting a bold lip color for the first time or backpacking through Europe on a budget allow yourself to take risks. I took a risk of quitting a full time job to start BeautySweetSpot.com and never looked back. While it may be scary (it’s only human), risks can lead to great things!

Thanks, Jeannine! What are your five rules?
