Holiday Gift Guide: Pixi Picks

Presented by Target

Sparkle, Neely, sparkle: This is the 2011 BBJ Holiday Gift Guide. For more gift-worthy items for everyone on your list, check out my other offerings.

Per the song you and I both know, on the 8th day of Christmas, some (un)lucky buck was on the receiving end of eight maids a milking. I wouldn’t know what to do with that in my Manhattan apartment but one thing that’s milky enough already is my COMPLEXION. So for a sexy flush of “meet me under the mistletoe” cheeks, I need to step up my stain game. That’s where the Pixi Fake Awake Kit #1 in Powernap comes in.

If you’re looking for a gift for paler princesses, this all-in-one box of dreams offers all one needs to get glowing. This is also the gift for your friend who’s a new mom and won’t be reacquainting herself with a full 7-8 hours for a while. Best suited for anyone with fair to medium skin, this kit contains eight products: two of Pixi’s Correcting Concealers, two Brightening Concealers, one Cheek & Eye Awakening Powder, an Eye Area Setting Powder, one Lip & Cheek Tint and a Lip Gloss in a pretty peach and pink palette of hues. The peachy pink stain is vital in my lifestyle of late to make me look, well, alive after late nights of working interspersed with holiday party shenanigans. Love.

Also currently doing purse rotation is Pixi’s Sheer Cheek Gel. For me, these recall the delight of Bonne Bell’s ’90s Bronzing Gels–I “sent away” for these in bulk, negotiating dish duty with my mother for money in exchange for a check to mail. I vastly prefer the blendability of Pixi’s gel to your garden variety gel blush stick. Pixi’s iteration lasts longer, goes on more naturally and boasts a believable blush that’s endearing, yet searing.

Always the goal.

The Pixi Sheer Cheek Gel and Fake Awake Kit  are available for $18 and $28, respectively at target.com
