Garnier Fructis Triple Nutrition and Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew

Julie from Fashion Pulse Daily and I at the Garnier open house!

Gals, last night I attended an open house event for Garnier, one of my favorite drugstore gems. There are many fun new things in store. Get excited.

In the skin care world, Garnier Nutritioniste is introducing caffeine to their new Skin Renew line. Caffeine stimulates cell activity and fights the first signs of aging to both boost youthful radiance and preserve it. At the event, I spoke with dermatologist for Garnier, Dr. Neal Shultz, M.D. Dr. Shultz is also host of the first online talkshow, called Derm TV, dedicated specifically to skin care. He informed me about caffeine’s ability to ward off skin cancer with no damage to healthy cells and when I said, “get out of the city, Cousin Larry,” (a la Balki Bartokomous–thanks Tamron, for reminding me of the wonder that is that show) he pointed me to this article. He predicted that caffeine will be the big ingredient of 2010, perhaps what argan oil was to 2009. I’m no derm (though my friend Lauren sought my guidance re: a skin issue of hers this weekend–my clinical diagnosis was “it’s a bruise.”), but I’m inclined to agree with him, particularly after reading what the article said about caffeine’s likely inclusion in sunscreens. I’m most excited about the brand’s new product, Skin Renew Awakening Face Massager.

The entire Skin Renew line will be available at mass retailers nationwide starting in July 2009. All items will be priced at a palatable $13.

In the world of hair, Garnier boasts a new Fructis Triple Nutrition line, which slays me with its darker, emerald green packaging. Doesn’t the new look make it seem more European and exotic? To me, it conjures visions of shopping trips to Boots the Chemist. The new line will include three oils: olive, avocado and shea to target different layers of the hair to provide nourishment and restore health. I’m most into the new mask, 3-Minute Undo: Dryness Reversal Treatment ($6). Finely ground apricot seeds (a first in hair care, though the ingredient is prevalent in skin care, obv) are suspended within a rich cream conditioner to massage/exfoliate hair shaft and allow it to better absorb hydration. It only takes three minutes, but Dr. Maclin, a dermatologist present at the open house, told me she likes to slather it on and allow it to penetrate for a full 30 minutes. “Your body heat allows it to really sink into hair and nourish it,” she said. She also told me, “Garnier is the first brand to bring nutrition to fruition.” Love it, Dr. Maclin. The Fortifying Shampoo (a CLEAR hydrating shampoo, can you EVEN?) retails at $3, as does the Fortifying Cream Conditioner. These three products will also be available at mass retailers in July.

Garnier Fructis Style is also coming out in July with a new Body Boost line and an Anti-Humidity Hairspray suite, which I’ll cover in a separate post.

TTFN, dolls!
