Waxing Optimistic

I have to tell you, bikini waxes are never fun. But if you’re in the market for a new waxer, I have to recommend Anna at Chill Spa. Chill Spa is located at 40A E. 33rd Street, between Park and Madison Avenues. The space is lovely, you are greeted by very personable staff and are then led to one of the spa’s 6 treatment rooms. The one I was in was painted with delightful palm trees accompanied by a Melrose Place-like instrumental soundtrack. What’s more fun than that? Anna used a raspberry colored organic peel-off wax with aromatherapy oils. The peel-off kind DEFINITELY hurts less. I’d say the pain factor was a mere 5 on a scale of 1-10, as opposed to the usual 8 or 9. Also, Anna warns you before she’s about to peel off a strip by having you inhale first, which trust me, makes a HUGE difference. Let’s be serious, enduring a Brazilian is never fun… but I found her technique made the experience infinitely less hellacious.

A Brazilian at Chill Spa costs $65, which is quite a lot more expensive than what I usually pay (around $35). But I’d definitely shell out the extra money a couple of times a year. Call 1(212)213-2000 to make an appointment, or do as I did and simply book it on lifebooker.com.
